A dead fridge or washer is too heavy to move and cannot go out with the regular garbage, and anything with refrigerant needs special handling under Ontario rules. Kitchener Junk Removal Pros hauls old appliances out of Kitchener homes same-day or next-day, disconnects them for you, and recycles the metal and components properly.

Appliances we remove

  • Refrigerators, freezers and chest freezers
  • Stoves, ovens, ranges and cooktops
  • Washers, dryers and dishwashers
  • Microwaves, range hoods and small appliances
  • Water heaters, furnaces and AC / heat-pump units

We disconnect and carry, you don't lift

You do not unhook anything heavy. We disconnect the appliance, walk it out on a dolly, and protect the floors and door frames on the way. For a gas stove or a hard-plumbed washer, shutting off the supply valve before we arrive helps, but we take reasonable care of the connections either way.

An appliance is mostly steel, so the large majority of each unit is recycled rather than landfilled. We separate the metal so it goes into the right stream.

Refrigerant is the part people get wrong

Fridges, freezers and AC units hold refrigerant that has to be recovered under environmental rules before the shell is scrapped. You cannot legally set one at the curb to be crushed with the gas still in it. We take these to a proper recycler that recovers the refrigerant first.

Getting rid of it in Kitchener and Waterloo Region

At the Region of Waterloo drop-off sites at 925 Erb Street West in Waterloo and 201 Savage Drive in Cambridge, a refrigerant appliance carries a $10 per-unit CFC removal fee on top of the tipping charge, and there is a $15 minimum charge per load and mixed, unsorted loads are billed at the highest rate. That is the fee you would pay hauling a fridge yourself, plus the truck to get it there and the two people to load it. We fold the disposal and the labour into one volume price so there is no separate line item to chase.

What appliance removal costs in Kitchener

A single appliance runs about $90 to $160 depending on size and weight, less per unit when you combine several. Fridges, freezers and AC units sit at the higher end because of the refrigerant recovery and the weight. The price is locked before we load, disposal fees included, so the number does not move when we see the unit.

Frequently asked questions

How much to remove an old appliance in Kitchener?

About $90 to $160 per appliance depending on size and weight, less per unit when combined. Fridges and freezers are at the higher end because of refrigerant handling and weight.

Do you take fridges and freezers with refrigerant?

Yes. Refrigerant is recovered under Ontario rules and the unit goes to a proper recycler. At the Region sites this is a $10 per-unit fee; we fold it into the one price.

Do I need to disconnect the appliance first?

No, we disconnect and carry it out. For a gas or hard-plumbed unit, shutting the supply valve first helps, but we take care of it.

Do you recycle old appliances?

Yes. Appliances are mostly steel, so the large majority of each unit is recycled once the metal is separated.

Can you remove a water heater or furnace?

Yes, along with AC condensers and heat-pump units. Tell us the type when you book so we bring the right straps.

Is same-day appliance pickup available?

Usually yes, with a two-hour window. Call in the morning and there is a good chance we clear it that afternoon.
