The Region's curbside yard-waste collection is for bundled branches and paper bags under the weight limit, not a torn-out fence, a trampoline, or a pile of sod. When your yard project makes more than the bags can hold, or the wrong kind of material, that is what we take.
We load it from wherever it sits, the back corner, the side yard, the pile by the garage, so you are not dragging it out front to hope it gets collected.

Dirt, sod, gravel and clean fill are dense: a small pile outweighs a truck of brush. We take these by arrangement, priced with weight in mind because the landfill bills by the tonne. Tell us roughly how much when you book so we bring the right truck and give you an honest number.

Soil, sod, gravel and clean fill are excluded from curbside yard waste collection, and they are the heaviest thing most homeowners ever try to move. A small pile can outweigh a full truck of brush, which is why we price them by weight rather than by volume, and why we need to know roughly how much there is before we send a truck.
If you take it yourself, the Region bills soil, brick and concrete as inerts at $120 per tonne, with a $15 minimum per load. Tree branch disposal
Branches can go out with the Region's yard waste collection if they fit the rules: bundles no more than 7.5 cm (3 inches) thick and 92 cm (3 feet) long, tied with jute or cotton twine, each bundle under 23 kg (50 lb), on your every-second-week yard waste day between late March and the end of the season. Anything thicker, longer or heavier, a trunk section after a storm or a hedge that came out at the roots, is not collected.
At a Region drop-off site, clean yard waste is billed at $82.50 per tonne, cheaper than garbage. Brush longer than 2.4 m (8 feet) and stumps wider than 60 cm (24 inches) are "special handling" at $240 per tonne and accepted at the Waterloo site only. We cut long brush down on site so it goes in at the yard waste rate, not the special-handling one.
